American Hunting Doodles
About AHD
American Hunting Doodles began in Tygh Valley, Oregon, to provide healthy, well-mannered, non-shedding dogs for hunting, service, and family companionship. AHD has now grown into a national network of Affiliate Breeders.
Collectively, we are working to standardize a new breed of dog for today’s hunting and outdoor family, The American Retriever.
All our breeders follow comprehensive protocols that ensures the well-being of all our puppies and consistency in our lines.
Each of our litters experience three early conditioning systems: Early Neurological Stimulation, early Operant Conditioning to nurture natural prey drive and hunting instincts, and early potty training with the Misty Method.
American Hunting Doodles are now in over 400 hunting homes across 46 states, Canada, Mexico, and Spain.
New Breed in Development - The American Retriever
By outcrossing four incredible water sporting breeds – the Standard Poodle, Labrador, Golden, and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers – and selecting for specific traits, skills, and genetics, we are creating the American Retriever to be the world’s best hunting, service, and family companion.
Science Driven Canine Breeding Program
Every dog we breed is DNA tested by Embark Veterinary, and your puppy will come with a DNA report proving health and coat traits. This DNA analysis enables us to prevent the spread of genetic disease and control the Coefficient of Inbreeding in our network of lines. We are also able to select for specific genes associated with non-shedding coats and coat color.
